The town of Benicàssim celebrates two festivities a year, in honour of its patron saints. In January the fiestas of Sant Antoni and Santa Àgueda are celebrated and in September, the celebrations around our patron saint, Santo Tomás de Villanueva, take place.
This year the festivities will be held from Friday 15 to Sunday 24 September, involving festive events for the whole family and all tastes.
If you are planning to stay at Bonterra Resort over the next few weeks, you will be interested in getting to know these festivities and visiting the different events and activities during the ten days they last.
Religion, music, gastronomy and lots of fun for everyone.
If there is one thing the Benicàssim fiestas have, it is variety and multiple leisure options so that you can choose the acts and events that most interest you.
On Friday 15th the traditional ringing of the bells takes place to welcome the fiestas of Santo Tomás de Villanueva. From this moment on, the whole town of Benicàssim gets involved in the celebration of the festivities in the different streets, squares and venues, with an added fairground where the locals can enjoy a disco, concerts and a variety of gastronomy.
Throughout the week, you can follow the festivities programme so you won’t miss a thing.
Among the different events you can find:
- Religious celebrations and processions in honour of the patron saint Santo Tomás de Villanueva.
- Bull running of the bulls.
- Concerts and discos in the fairgrounds and in different locations in the town.
- Gastronomic events, such as the preparation of a monumental paella or the “Tombet de Bou” for the whole village.
- Cultural workshops and art exhibitions.
- Family activities and children’s leisure activities, including a fairground area.
- Sports competitions.
- And if you like fireworks, don’t miss the last night, Sunday 24th, when the festivities close with a “correfocs” or firecrackers that runs along the whole of San Vicente street and ends on the Torre de San Vicente beach, with a spectacular fireworks display.
Our campsite is only 500 metres from the town and the fairgrounds, so if you like festivities and tradition, we invite you to visit and enjoy the Benicàssim fiestas.
